Group calls for Chicago boycott

Daily Herald Reports

Posted on December 16, 2002

A group that opposes the expansion of O'Hare International Airport is calling on people to boycott all Chicago businesses.

The Alliance of Residents Concerning O'Hare said the action is intended to send a message to the city of Chicago and its business community about the "arrogance and indifference" they've shown toward communities that would be harmed by the airport expansion.

Alliance leaders encourage people to instead shop or dine at suburban businesses, particularly those that oppose O'Hare expansion.  In addition to supporting their cause, the boycott can also help lower

property taxes for suburban residents, alliance leaders said.
